To ensure that children of military members are afforded every opportunity to participate in sports, United Heroes League (formerly Defending the Blue Line) provides free equipment, camps, special events, and financial assistance to military families in need.
In being tasked with providing the organization with a strong and iconic brand that would be flexible enough to work across a wide range of applications, we stepped up and delivered across the board.
One of the biggest challenges military children face when moving to a new community is integration. It's not uncommon for some families to have to move over a dozen times throughout the course of their children's school career. As you could imagine, it's a tough life to adjust to.
Fortunately, participation in team sports can be a major support pillar in for integration. Unfortunately, team sports can also present difficulties in expenditures and early involvement. That's where UHL comes in and helps families get over financial hurdles.
United Heroes League athletes include Zach Parise and Mark Parrish of the MN Wild, Matt Hendricks of the Edmonton Oilers, Tyus Jones of the Timberwolves and Danny Cruz of the MN United FC. Here, Jones and Parrish announce the launch of United Heroes League.
"In the grand scheme of things it's not really fair that's how it works out... Unfortunately, we play a sport that is pretty ridiculously expensive at a young age. You have these great people that are serving our country, and can't afford to have their kids sign up to play hockey and get them the gear, so it's not fair."
